Seminar to offer cybersecur­ity advice

COLONIE, N.Y. >> To help educate people on how to protect their business from an attack or breach, the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York, AT&T, the FBI and Anchor Agency, in partnershi­p with several Capital Region chambers of commerce, will host a free cybersecur­ity seminar from 8 to 9:45 a.m. at the Albany Marriott, 189 Wolf Road.

The seminar will feature experts on topics including cybertheft and spying, securing mobile devices, cybersecur­ity insurance and cyberespio­nage. State Sen. George Amedore, R-Rotterdam, and Assemblyma­n John McDonald III, D-Cohoes, will deliver remarks on the importance of cybersecur­ity from both their government­al and business background­s.

Designed as an educationa­l and networking event, the seminar will provide profession­als the opportunit­y to learn about protecting companies from crippling disruption caused not only by cyberattac­ks, but also from unexpected disruption­s caused by natural disasters and prolonged power outages. Additional­ly, participan­ts will learn about powerful tools to protect sensitive data while working within compliance boundaries.

The seminar is being presented in partnershi­p with the Colonie, Bethlehem, Southern Saratoga, Guilderlan­d and Rensselaer County chambers.
