TROYOY Rosa LL. Frierson,Frier 89 passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 10, 1927 to the late George and Susie Reid in Manning, South Carolina. She was one of 15 children.

On January 12, 1947, she married Isiah Frierson and in 1952, they moved to Troy, NY. Upon moving to Troy, she and her family joined the Seventh Avenue AME Zion Church (later changed to 5th Avenue). She was a member of the Missionary Society, various choirs and Sunday School ministries.

During her early years in Troy, she worked in the shirt factories and developed a love for sewing. Miss Rosa, as she was af-ffectionat­ely called by many, became known for her sewing talents and was kept busy by the many customers she had in the Capital District. She was also a long-time standing member of the Eastern Star Mt. Moriah Chapter #75 and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Isiah; sister, Lila Mae Crawford of Philadelph­ia, PA; five children Roslyn Diane Pompey (Jerome), Truman Frierson and A.A Jaquetta Treece of Troy, NY, Terry Frierson (Lorraine) of Albany, NY and Allan Frierson of Troy, NY; 11 grandchild­ren, 13 greatgrand­children, 2 greatgreat grandchild­ren and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Calling hours will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 Fifth Avenue, Troy on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A celebratio­n of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown by the staff of the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
