CDTA asking public to vote on locations for bike-share effort
ALBANY, N.Y. >> The Capital District Transportation Authority is giving the public a voice in deciding on locations for its new CDPHP Cycle! bike-share program.
Voting is already underway at www.CDPHPcycle.com, which also includes an interactive map to assist people in voting on locations or make their own suggestions. This feedback will be used, along with information about population, city layouts and existing bicycle infrastructure to make decisions and start planning.
CDTA launched CDPHP Cycle! earlier this month in partnership with health insurer CDPHP. The program will provide 160 bikes distributed among about 20 stations in Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs and will provide a healthy and affordable mode of transportation when it hits the streets this summer.
Information sessions will be held in all four communities, where the public can meet CDPHP Cycle! staff, check out a model bike, ask questions and learn more about the region’s first bike-sharing program. Programs are scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Guild Room at Proctors on State Street in Schenectady, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Troy Innovation Garage on 4th Street in the Collar City, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the Saratoga Springs Recreation Center on Vanderbilt Avenue in the Spa City and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the Washington Avenue branch of the Albany Public Library.
Voting is open through Sunday, April 30, with site announcements expected in May.
