THACHER NATURE CENTER: Cliff-Top Walk, 10 a.m. Take in the views from the cliff edge on this early spring walk along the Long Path out to Hailes Cave picnic shelter, then walk the Escarpment Trail back, stopping to take in a cliff top perspectiv­e of the Indian Ladder Trail and the rushing waters of Outlet and Mine Lot Falls. Walk is about 1.5 miles in length and is over fairly level terrain with one short, steep section. Participan­ts should dress for cool, damp weather and muddy trails. HONOR A DECEASED VETERAN: The Rensselaer County Honor a Deceased Veteran Program honors John Joseph McCann at this month’s ceremony on April 10at 8:30a.m. in the Legislativ­e Chambers, Third Floor of the County Office Bldg. located at 1600Sevent­h Avenue, Troy. John served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Cross, a Destroyer Escort Ship that saw action in the Pacific Theatre, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, The American Campaign Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 1star. After his service, John began a family while working in the Security Section of the Ford Motor Company in Green Island. John was a member of The North Albany American Legion, Post 1610.
