Colonie’s Lambert tosses playoff no-hitter

COLONIE, N.Y. » Duncan Satterlee threw a three-hit gem for Shaker’s varsity baseball team.

Ryan Lambert was even better for host Colonie.

Lambert no-hit the rival Blue Bison to lead the Raiders to a 2-1 victory in the first round of the Section II Class AA playoffs. Colonie advances to play at Niskayuna Thursday in the quarterfin­als.

Lambert led the way with 13 strikeouts on the mound while Ryan McGee scored on a wild pitch and David Grey scored on a fielders choice for Colonie. Blake Wiegert homered while teammates Jimmy Burnell and Jon Colligan singled twice.

No. 3 seed Hoosic Valley will host No. 6 Canajohari­e in the quarterfin­als Thursday at 4 p.m. GREENWICH 15, BISHOP GIBBONS 2 » No. 9 seed Greenwich varsity baseball travelled to No. 8 Bishop Gibbons for a Section II Class C first round game and re- turned home with a 15-2 win. Cole Burgess went 4- for- 5 with four RBIs while Derek McPhail had two RBIs, a triple and five runs for the Witches (12-9) at the plate. Bailey Winch picked up the win on the mound with five innings of one-run ball.

Greenwich advances to take on No. 1 seeded Renssalear in the quarterfin­als at 4 p.m. Thursday. TAMARAC 7, RAVENA- COEYMANS-SELKIRK 3 » Matt Fox went 3-for- 4 with two RBIs to lead the Bengals offense in a first round Class B playoff game. Jack Scharnott earned the win on the mound for Tamarac with no earned runs allowed and seven strikeouts in five innings of work. ALBANYACAD­EMY16, FONDAFULTO­NVILLE 0 » Ben Seiler earned the win on the mound while Brett Young hit for the cycle with a double, triple and three-run homer for the Cadets. Joe Whalen added a solo homer.

No. 7 Albany Academy (15- 4) will travel to No. 2 Hudson in a Section II Class B quarterfin­al Thursday.

HOOSIC VALLEY 14, STILLWATER 1 » Camille Coyne twirled a no-hitter for the hosts with 15 strikeouts and just one walk. Ashley Madigan and Savannah Champagne had three hits apiece to lead the Valley offense in the rout Monday. COHOES12, VORHEESVIL­LE0 » Cohoes clinched a share of the Colonial Council championsh­ip in style after Isabelle Dechiaro threw a nohitter in a 12- 0 shutout of Voorheesvi­lle Monday. She had seven strikeouts and no walks in the contest.

Cohoes and Ichabod Crane will share the league title after finishing with identical 12-1 records.

Megan Lebuis and Lily Sencer both had three singles and an RBI for the Tigers while teammate Jordan Brown hit a double, a single and drove in two runs.

Cohoes improved to 15- 4 overall.

HOOSICK FALLS 7, SARATOGA CARTHOLIC 5 » Hoosick Falls’ Syd Miller hit a double and a triple to lead the Panthers past the Saints in the regular season finale for both teams.

Molly O’Reilly had a triple and a single to lead the Saratoga Catholic offense. GLENS FALLS 12, WATERVLIET 6 » Megan Murray hit a two-run homer and Alexis O’Brien doubled for the Cannoneers, but it wasn’t enough as Glens Falls scored seven runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Boys lacrosse

LANSINGBUR­GH 14, VOORHEESVI­LLE 11 » Pat Esposito scored nine goals and tallied three assists to account for 12 of the Knights’ 14 goals in a Colonial Council victory. Luke Pondillo added three goals and two assists while goalkeeper Zach Penk made 13 saves in the victory. Senior defenseman Dan “Padre” Savaria contribute­d an assist. CBA13, TROY 7 » Nolan Aery scored six goals to lead the Brothers offense while Luke Anthony scored two goals and provided two assists and Hunter Pemrick added two goals and an assist. Darrien Poole made 13 saves and Max Tedesco had four for CBA in the win. NISKAYUNA 9, SHAKER 8 » Lucas Quinn scored five goals and added three assists for the Silver Warriors in a thrilling win over the Blue Bison. Host Niskayuna outscored Shaker 3-2 in the fourth quarter to clinch the win.

BALLSTON SPA 24, AVERILL PARK1 » Zac Schuette scored once and dished out six assists while teammates Jon Rossetti had five goals and Joe McDonald finished with four for the Scotties. Matt Kenneally made eight saves in goal for Averill Park. GUILDERLAN­D 18, COLONIE 2 » Anthony Sericolo led all scorers with five goals and two assists for the Dutchmen. Matt Fisher and Vincent Leraci had the goals for the Raiders.

Girls lacrosse

CATHOLIC CENTRAL 19, HOOSICK FALLS 1 » Colleen McDonnell and Emma Field scored four goals apiece for the Crusaders in a big win. Emily Carlow made four saves in goal for Catholic Central.

BETHLEHEM2­0, COLUMBIA 5 » Kathryn Sancilio scored seven goals while Caroline Wise, Natalie Cook and Sophie Powers added hat tricks for Bethlehem in the win.

BALLSTON SPA 13, AVERILL PARK 10 » Megan Mille scored three goals and provided two assists and Mikayla Kelly had four goals to lead the Scotties offense. Anita Reitano put up four goals and Kenzie Minkler scored a hat trick for the Warriors. Nya Mauro finished with a game- high 10 saves for Ballston Spa. Becca Re and Laura Wing combined for 10 savs for Averill Park.

NISKAYUNA 15, SHAKER 3 » Katie Jullian and Maeve Lennon both scored for the Blue Bison in a league loss. Annabelle Conover had six goals for the Silver Warriors.

Track and field

BOYS SUBURBAN COUNCIL CHAMPIONSH­IPS » Shenendeho­wa won the boys Suburban Council Championsh­ip 94- 84.5 over second-place Shaker. Saratoga Springs took third with 69.5 points while Schenctady finished fourth with 66.

Shen’s Nick Michalowsk­i won an individual sectional title in the 110 hurdles and got a relay win in the 4x100.

Saratoga Springs senior Nick Cavotta brought home sectional titles in the 100 meters and the 400. COLONIALCO­UNCILCHAMP­IONSHIPS » The Holy Names girls and Albany Academy boys both earned Colonial Council team championsh­ips at Ichabod Crane High School Tuesday. Holy Names topped Cohoes 10284 as Coblekill-Richmondvi­lle took third with 78.5 points.

Albany Academy beat Schalmont 120.5-94 in the boys standings, followed by La Salle with 90 points and Cobleskill with 75.5.
