Police investigated another shooting late Monday in the area of Glen and 6th avenues. Muhammed K. Ceasar, 31, was found in a home on the 3300 block of 6th Avenue, where he fled after sustaining a bullet wound to the hip. The next night, units responded to Oakwood Avenue for a stabbing that resulted in another man being treated at Albany Medical Center for stab wounds.

Tedesco said investigators believe none of these incidents appear to be related and that the public is not in any danger.

“We do not feel that this latest shooting is related to the other shooting that occurred,” Tedesco explained. “It was something that took place after an argument between two groups that are known to each other, so they are not random incidents.”

Tedesco noted the department has recently shifted as many officers as it can to the North Central neighborhood, which is where the first shooting and the stabbing occurred, as well as the last two in a recent string of suspcious fires in vacant buildings.

“We have shifted all of the resources that we have into the North Central neighborhood to try to deter further activities on both fronts,” said Tedesco.
