Motorcycle club to ride Saturday for wounded vet
BRUNSWICK, N.Y. » The American Infidels VMC Motorcycle Club of New York will host its first upstate Wounded Vet Run on Saturday to help a U.S. Army veteran who was wounded by a mortar blast while serving in Iraq.
The ride will take place rain or shine, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. at Brunswick Harley Davidson on Route 7 and the ride to Trick Shots on Route 9 in Halfmoon beginning at noon. Once riders arrive at Trick Shots, they will participate in a ceremony, then enjoy food and drinks, music, raffles and vendors.
“As veterans who have fought hard for our freedoms, it’s our duty to protect and strengthen the military community both when deployed and at home,” said Zach DeJoseph, president of the American Infidels. “This is why the American Infidels VMC group was formed and, more so, why it’s imperative to support this inaugural upstate New York ride, which will provide much needed assistance to a local veteran in need.”
All proceeds will be donated to Angie Lupe, an Army specialist who served from 1999 to 2005, until sustaining a traumatic brain injury and hearing loss, as well as a spinal cord injury that is causing progressive paralysis.
The cost to participate is $20 per rider, $10 per passenger or $20 for walk-ins at Trick Shots. For more information on the ride, call 227-0643, email aivmc.ny.president@gmail.com or visit www.TheyFoughtWeRide.com.
