Grafton to host summer festival

GRAFTON, N.Y. » The Grafton Summer Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 15, at the Grafton Town Park on Route 2, one mile east of the entrance to Grafton Lakes State Park.

The festival has been held for more than a quarter-century, featuring a craft fair and flea market. This year, a record number of vendors is expected, according to organizers.

Among the entertainm­ent planned for the festival is a performanc­e at noon in the gazebo on the village green by the Capitaland Chorus, an award-winning chapter of Sweet Adelines Internatio­nal that performs a capella, four-part harmonies in the barbershop style. Meanwhile, Civil War reenactors from Crenshaw’s Battery will don their full garb and have a display of tents, equipment and personal weapons, as well as two cannons.

Our Lady of the Snow, Mission of Our Lady of Victory, will sponsor a chicken barbecue beginning at noon and continuing until sold out, while Girl Scouts will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage and peppers and cold drinks and homemade baked goods will be sold by the ladies of Our Lady of the Snow Mission and Our Lady of Victory Youth Ministry will be selling popcorn, as well as offering face painting and other youthorien­ted activities.
