SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » On Saturday, the Berkshire Bank Saratoga Pavilion at the Saratoga Race Course was filled with customers looking to buy products made in New York state.

Taste NY: Food & Artisans is a lively market with numerous food and artisan vendors featuring products made exclusively in New York state. The market will be held each Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Berkshire Bank Saratoga Pavilion.

Customers were able to browse the wares of the vendors on hand, including: Mountain Winds Farm, which sells natural maple wood products from Berne, N.Y.; RAD Soap Company, which sells all-natural soaps and has a store in Stuyvesant Plaza in Albany; Vital Eats, which makes plant based sauces, dips and foods from Malta; and Planted Organics, which has vegan salad dressings and is based out of Troy.

One of the popular vendors in the pavilion Saturday morning was the RAD Soap Company. Some customers said they come to this pavilion to get their products every summer.

“Every year I wait to get the RAD products from here because they are just the best products,” said Donna Stephan, who comes up to the race course from Staten Island each year. “I really like how the insect repellent is all-natural and it works like nothing else.”

“We have a proprietary recipe for our soaps. We use amazing ingredients that no one else uses in the world, so you really can’t get our stuff anywhere besides online or through us,” added RAD Soaps owner Sue Kerber.

Another one of the busier vendors Saturday morning was the Planted Organics Company, which has been in business for about a year now. This was its first event at the race course.

“We do a lot of festivals and farmers markets throughout the week,” said owner Royston Souvenir. “We always try to do more local events. We’re from Troy, and so this is pretty close by for us, so it made perfect sense for

us to come here for this.”

Customers said that they enjoyed being able to get all New York based products at one location.

“It’s just nice to come get stuff here that you can’t really find in your mall or [most] stores,” said Melissa Tyler, from Fort Edward. “I bought stuff from RAD, Planet Organic and also the maple place. I come to this every year for products.”
