Man sought in attempted abduction, lewd acts

TROY, N.Y. » City police are looking for a man they say performed lewd acts in front of several women and tried in one case to abduct one of them.

In a Saturday morning news release, police said they are looking for a black man in his 30s, about 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 and weighing between 225 and 250 pounds, with a shaved head, dark complexion and light growth of facial hair, after incidents reported in the early morning hours of July 29 and again Wednesday af- ternoon.

The first incident occurred about 3:50 a.m. July 29 near Broadway and 3rd Street in downtown. Police said two women were approached by the man as they were walking to their vehicle, which was parked nearby. The suspect committed a lewd act in their presence, police said, then fled.

Four days later, police said a man approached two young women about 1:50 p.m. in the area of the gorge over the Poestenkil­l off Cypress Street and was again performing a lewd act. This time, however, the man attempted to assault and abduct one of the women, though they were able to fight him offand escape, police said.

Police said the suspect was wearing a black T-shirt in the Broadway incident, and they believe he is associated with a newer model, black Nissan Altima. Police are asking anyone who can identify this man to call Det. Russ Clements at 2704666 or the main desk at 2704423, option 6.

Police are also warning that if anyone sees this mandriving the described vehicle that they immediatel­y call 911 so uniformed officers can be sent to locate the suspect.
