BRUNSWICK, N. Y. » Field of Horrors is kicking off the Halloween season this weekend with a sneak peek at this year’s haunted attractions.

With four different themed haunted houses and a Trail of Terror hayride, Field of Horrors will open this Friday and Saturday for its annual Sneak Peek Weekend at 100 Farrell Rd. in Brunswick.

Thrill- seekers will get scared in attractions such as the 5,500- square- foot Death Trap, a strobe- light chain link fence maze called Insanity, the creepy Return of Mummy’s Curse and the all- new Toxic Terror, a toxic waste plant filled with mutant creatures.

Along the hayride through the 20- acre field, visitors will encounter some new scenes as well, aiming to produce more screams than ever before. “A lot of surprises,” said owner David Mulinio.

Now in its fourth season, “It’s bigger and better every year,” Mulinio said, “This year we raised the fear level.”

For the past five weeks the Field of Horrors team has been working to make the site as terrifying as possible. Much of the building and design is done by Matt Dinon.

Along with elaborate sets, nearly 100 actors and actresses have been hired to frighten guests all throughout their visit.

Production manager Norman Eick, one of the characters of Field of Horrors, has been hiring this season’s staff of scarers.

“This year’s Field of Horrors is the best one yet,” Eick said. “Every year we always expand and try to change things up, build upon what has been our successes from the previous year.”

Eick continued, “We try to keep it fresh for everybody, so that when they come it’s not the same thing all the time. Every year they come, even if somebody’s been here all

four years, they see something different every year.”

Field of Horrors typically attracts thousands of guests in the weekends leading up to Halloween.

In previous years, people have traveled from as far as Vermont, Massachusetts and New York City to experience Field of Horrors.

Last year, Field of Horrors was voted as Upstate New York’s best haunted attraction at newyorkupstate.com.

Mulinio’s goal is tomaintain this title in the future. This will include increased marketing efforts by Stacy Mulinio, David’s wife, and continuing to grow Field of Horrors offerings each year.

For this Sneak Peek Weekend, tickets are just $ 15 per person. Starting on Oct. 6, tickets will be $ 25 per person. A special $ 13 rate will be charged on Friday, Oct. 13.

Field of Horrors is meant for both children and adults, but it is suggested that children who attend are at least 10 years old.

To see all Field of Horrors has to offer, guests should plan to spend at least two hours on site.

Food vendors, including Jack’s Drive In of Wynantskill, will be on- site throughout the season.

Beginning on Oct. 6, Field of Horrors is open from 6: 30 to 11 on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Sunday, Oct. 8 before Columbus Day.

As Halloween gets closer, hours will be extended to 6 to 11: 30 p. m. Thursday through Sunday.
