‘Burgh girls win tourney in PKs

CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. >> The Lansingbur­gh varsity girls soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with Galway after regulation and overtime but prevailed on penalty kicks in the championsh­ip of the Maple Hill Tournament.

The match was originally scheduled for Monday but was postponed.

The star of the show for the Knights was goalkeeper Jillian Currier who made two of her 10 saves in the penalty shootout. Lansingbur­gh won in the shootout 3-2.

Grace Montague made three saves for Galway. The game is officially scored as a draw.

STILLWATER 6, EMMA WILLARD

The Warriors got two goals apiece from Teya Staie and Brooke Pickett while Paige Brinsko and Keelyn Peacock also scored in the rout.

The win improves Stillwater to 12-2 in Wasaren League play and 14-2 overall while Emma Willard fell to 7-7.

Kiersten Conroy earned the shutout in goal for the Warriors with four saves and Delaney Piper made nine saves for the Jesters.

Boys soccer

LA Caleb Phelan scord the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute. Alex Loupessis made 12 saves for Academy to earn the shutout while Colton Jaquith made three stops for La Salle.

The host Blue Bison got goals from Hassan Alfadhil, Jack Acquario and Demani Johnson to top the Radiers on senior night. Stephen Guidi, Zaheer Irani and Alfadhil tallied the assists for Shaker.

Kevin Lika scored after a great move in the box to pull Colonie within 2-1 but Shaker clinched the match with a third goal late. Keegan Flaherty made six saves for the Blue Bison. Greenwich opened the scoring in the fifth minute on a penalty kick goal by Luke Jordan. That’s the way it stayed until 11 minutes into the second half when Henry Hansen scored on a direct kick for Greenwich (9-4-1, 10-4-2).

SHAKER 6, BETHLEHEM 3 » Shaker’s girls tennis team picked up points in four of six singles matches and two of three doubles to win the Section II Class AA championsh­ip 6-3 over Bethlehem.

HOLY NAMES 3, CATHOLIC

CCHS lost to Holy Names 13-25, 25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 25-15. Julia Tenney finished with nine kills, 21 digs, and four aces for the Crusaders, Lia Casale had nine kills, 13 digs and three aces and Megan Rumenapp finished with 27 assists, eight kills, two blocks and nine digs.

Holy Names’ Ellie Cepiel tallied eight kills, 12 digs, Kelsey Neff had 11 kills and five aces and Adele Decker added 24 assists and 10 digs.

Boys volleyball

The Plainsmen beat the Dutchmen 3-0. Shen was led by Dylan Urbanski with five kills, 21 assists and four digs. Brendan Spulnick added 13 kills, seven assists and Jack Normandin had six kills and eight digs.

Field hockey

Warrensbur­g’s Abigail Smith scored first but Annay Myers and Lillian Hickey responded with two goals within two minutes for all the scoring Falls needed.

Zoe Gress made 11 saves for the Panthers (12-0 league, 14-1 overall) while Isabella DeAmelia had six saves in the cage for Warrensbur­g. Claudia Barbera and Christina Callahan scored for the Silver Warriors. The Blue Bison’s Emmie Roberts made four saves and Kelly Fitzpatric­k had three saves in the cage.
