BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND » Rensselaer is in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the 2017 Friendship Four Tournament on Friday and Saturday at SSE Arena. The Engineers will take on No. 5 Clarkson on Friday at 10 a.m., before dueling either Maine or No. 10 Providence on Saturday.

The Engineers dropped a pair of non-league games to No. 4 Notre Dame last weekend, falling 4-1 and 1-0 in overtime. Freshman netminder Linden Marshall stopped 60 out of 64 shots in the weekend, including all 32 that faced in regulation time on Saturday. Sophomore Todd Burgess netted RPI’s lone goal on Friday night, while senior Jake Evans (1 goal, 1 assist) and Andrew Oglevie (2 assists) paced the Fighting Irish. Cale Morris turned away all 25 shots he faced on Saturday night to earn his second career shutout, while CamMorriso­n notched the game’s only goal, just 13 seconds into the extra session. Marshall had 27 stops on Friday night, including all 13 that he saw in the second period.

The 13th- ranked Golden Knights scored three first period goal en route to a 6- 0 victory over Rensselaer on November 3, in Potsdam. Jake Kielly finished with 17 saves for the shutout, while RPI freshman Linden Marshall came on in relief of Chase Perry and turned away 27 of 31 shots over the final 52:46 of play. Sheldon Rempal registered a hat trick to pace Clarkson offensivel­y, while Kelly Summers had a goal and an assist.

The Golden Knights own a 92- 52-11 lead in the all-time series with RPI – the most victories any team has over the Engineers. Rensselaer won the inaugural meeting, however, 14-1, in Troy on January 24, 1925.

Clarkson is 7-3-1 over the last 11 meetings, which includes two ECAC Hockey playoff series victories. In conference play, the Golden Knights are 5- 3- 3 over the last 11, including a 3-2-1 mark in Potsdam.

The Golden Knights went 4-1 against RPI last year, including a 2- 0 ECAC Hockey First Round series win in Potsdam on March 3 and 4. The two teams split their ECAC Hockey season series, with the Golden Knights taking a January non-league matchup in Lake Placid, 2-1. Viktor Liljegren had four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the five games, while Jared Wilson (2 goals, 1 assist), Jacob Hayhurst (3 assists) and Will Reilly (3 assists) all had three. Chase Perry went 1-3- 0 with a 4.02 goals against average and an .879 save percentage as the starter in four of the games.

Sophomore JacobHayhu­rst leads the Engineers with 10 points on four goals and six assists through 12 games. Junior Evan Tironese (4

goals, 3 assists), freshman Troy York (2 goals, 5 assists) andsophomo­reToddBurg­ess (1 goal, 6 assists) all seven points apiece, while Viktor Liljegren (5 goals, 1 assist) and Will Reilly (5 goals, 1 assist) have six.

Junior netminder Chase Perry has started eight games for the Engineers this season, going 1-5-2 with a 3.28 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. FreshmanLi­nden Marshall is 1-2-1 with a 3.04 goals against average and a .915 save percentage, having beaten RIT in his debut on Oct. 21.

The Golden Knights are paced offensivel­y by sophomore Sheldon Rempal (11 goals, 7 assists), who has 18 points. Senior defenseman Terrance Amorosa (4 goals, 9 assists) and sophomore Devin Brosseau (3 goals, 10 assists) have 13 points each, while freshman Jack Jacome (2 goals, 10 assists) has 12.
