ECAC announces men’s hockey awards finalists

with a plus-minus rating of +7 in 22 games played. The Pequannock, New Jersey native recorded a careerbest 12-game point streak, in which he totaled five goals and eight assists between Nov. 10-Jan. 6. He currently leads the Dutchmen in scoring with 32 points on 10 goals and 22 assists.

Sturm is the top player in the league and country at the face- off circle, winning 62.1% (393240) of his draws on the season. The sophomore from Augsburg, Germany has been strong in specialty teams play for the Golden Knights recording five power-play goals, one shorthande­d marker and three game-winners in ECAC Hockey play. Clarkson’s second leading scorer on the season ( 14g-19a- 34pts) has also recorded 21 blocks and posted a plus- minus rating of +17.

Vanderlaan continues to be one of the Big Red’s best two-way players, not only ranking among scoring leaders while also seeing the ice in pressure situations like penalty kills and opponents’ extra- attacker opportunit­ies late in one-or-two-goal games. He ranked 11th in the nation among forwards with 1.14 shot blocks per game before his regular season was ended prematurel­y on Feb. 3 due to injury — sustained while blocking a shot. He has a plus-9 rating for the year to boost his career total to a plus-33, which ranks second on the team behind only Alec McCrea. Harvard and is fifth among league defensemen (10th overall) with a plus-15 rating. The North Easton, Mass. native has been a plus or even rated player in 26 of 29 games this season. Marino also recorded 20 blocks in 22 league contests for the Crimson.

McCrea helped Cornell capture its first Cleary Cup since the 2004- 05 season. The junior from El Cajon, Calif. is one of five Big Red defensemen with at least 10 points, registerin­g four goals and six assists on the season. He was only on the ice for seven goals against at even strength despite facing opposition’s top lines. In addition, he has been a regular penalty-killer, but was only on the ice for two fiveon-four goals against in league-play. He has helped anchor Cornell’s defense, which has only given up 44 goals in 29 games on the season, which is tops among all men’s Division I programs at 1.52 goals per game.

Often delivering big open- ice hits, Summers was a member of Clarkson’s top defensive pair throughout the 2017-18 campaign appearing in all 22 league games, registerin­g 38 blocks. The senior from Golden Lake, Ont. was ECAC Hockey’s leading scorer from the blue- line both in league (5g-15a-20pts) and overall play (6g-22a-28pts). He led conference defenseman in power-play points (3g-10a13pts) and tied for second among all league players, on Clarkson’s top-rated powerplay. He currently leads the Golden Knights in blocks with 51 on the season.
