Hoosick Falls ready for St. Patrick’s Day Parade

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. » The annual Hoosick Falls’ Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is back for its 27th year on Saturday, March 17.

As the second largest parade in the Capital District, this year’s parade will feature floats, fire trucks, and five bands all beginning at noon in Wood Park.

This tradition began 27 years ago when local Irishmen Mike Conway and TJ Carmody were searching for a way to keep the Irish culture and history alive in the Hoosick area, a news release said.

The Irish Festival will begin at 1 p.m. following the parade in Wood Park with food, drink, and vendors. ThebandHel­lcat Maggie and Kevin McKrell will be performing.

Some of the food available will include corned beef sandwiches and dinners from the Sand Bar restaurant and Eagle’s Club, traditiona­l Irish food and ales from Browns Brewery, Irish Pizza served by BYTE, Irish beers and food from Man of Kent, and a special St. Patrick’s Day coffee from Iron Coffee.

There will be Celtic Games held at the Sand Bar restaurant, along with music by Together Again and The Original Express Band in The Polish Hall. The Eagle’s Club will also host the Snake House band. At BYTE, TheHubbard Irish Danc- ers will perform at 1:15 p.m. and Brennen and Jacque Mcguire of Carry’in will perform at 2 p.m. The band Mowgli will perform from 1 to 5 p.m. at Browns brewery.

Safe rides homewill be provided from 4 to midnight by Steve’s Taxi at (518) 577-2503. Rides will be free, but don’t forget to tip your driver!
