TROY - Carol A. Rigney, 72, passed away peace­fully with her lov­ing fam­ily by her side on April 15, 2018 af­ter a brief ill­ness. Born in Troy, NY, she was the daugh­ter of the late Don­ald H. Wells and Mildred H. (Bash­ford) Wells. Carol was raised in Cohoes, NY, where she was ed­u­cated at the for­mer Keveny Memo­rial Academy and Cohoes High School. She was first em­ployed af­ter high school at Marine Mid­land Bank. Later on, she would work as a teacher’s aide at Cohoes Mid­dle School in the mid1980’s be­fore work­ing for the for­mer Gar­den Way in Troy, NY be­fore ul­ti­mately work­ing for Rens­se­laer County. Carol was mar­ried for 53 years to her high school sweet­heart, War­ren F. Rigney, whom she mar­ried in 1965, and resided in Cohoes, NY with him and their chil­dren be­fore mov­ing to Troy, NY in 1993. Carol en­joyed knit­ting and gar­den­ing. She also loved fam­ily gath­er­ings and doted on her many nieces, neph­ews and most of all, her beloved grand­son. Carol was quick to laugh and was al­ways ready and will­ing to help any­one when they needed it. Sur­vivors, in ad­di­tion to her hus­band, in­clude her three chil­dren, W. Christo­pher Rigney (Sandi Tucker) from Dar­ring­ton, Wash­ing­ton, Brian M. Rigney from Troy, NY and Wendy C. Rigney of Troy, NY. She also leaves be­hind a grand­son, Brandon M. Cahrenger, from Troy, NY. Ad­di­tional sur­vivors in­clude two sis­ter, Deb­o­rah Caswell, from Cohoes, NY, and Linda (Wil­liam) Fuss from Sum­merville, SC, as well as nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews and cousins. Fu­neral will be held Thurs­day at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. San­vidge Fu­neral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Av­enue (Cor­ner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182 thence to St. Au­gus­tine’s Church in Lansingburgh where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated. Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited and may call at the fu­neral home on Wed­nes­day from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In­ter­ment will be held in St. Agnes Ceme­tery, Cohoes, fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion in her honor from 1 to 4 p.m. at Amer­i­can Le­gion, 93 Oneida St. in Cohoes.
