TROY - Carol A. Rigney, 72, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on April 15, 2018 after a brief illness. Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald H. Wells and Mildred H. (Bashford) Wells. Carol was raised in Cohoes, NY, where she was educated at the former Keveny Memorial Academy and Cohoes High School. She was first employed after high school at Marine Midland Bank. Later on, she would work as a teacher’s aide at Cohoes Middle School in the mid1980’s before working for the former Garden Way in Troy, NY before ultimately working for Rensselaer County. Carol was married for 53 years to her high school sweetheart, Warren F. Rigney, whom she married in 1965, and resided in Cohoes, NY with him and their children before moving to Troy, NY in 1993. Carol enjoyed knitting and gardening. She also loved family gatherings and doted on her many nieces, nephews and most of all, her beloved grandson. Carol was quick to laugh and was always ready and willing to help anyone when they needed it. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her three children, W. Christophe­r Rigney (Sandi Tucker) from Darrington, Washington, Brian M. Rigney from Troy, NY and Wendy C. Rigney of Troy, NY. She also leaves behind a grandson, Brandon M. Cahrenger, from Troy, NY. Additional survivors include two sister, Deborah Caswell, from Cohoes, NY, and Linda (William) Fuss from Summervill­e, SC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingbur­gh), Troy, NY 12182 thence to St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingbur­gh where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, followed by a reception in her honor from 1 to 4 p.m. at American Legion, 93 Oneida St. in Cohoes.
