Na­tional Park Week events on sched­ule

STILL­WA­TER, N. Y. » Saratoga Na­tional His­tor­i­cal Park has sev­eral spe­cial events and pro­grams planned to ob­serve Na­tional Park Week from April 21- 28.

• Satur­day, April 21 ( 10 a. m.- 4 p. m.) -- Ju­nior Ranger Day. Chil­dren and their fam­i­lies can join in a va­ri­ety of free, hands- on ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing a touch ta­ble with an­i­mal skins and skulls, talk to a wild lands fire­fighter, run in a re­lay race, dress up in a uni­form, or com­plete a Ju­nior Ranger ac­tiv­ity book.

Chil­dren will earn their free Ju­nior Ranger badge by par­tic­i­pat­ing.

• Sun­day, April 22 ( Noon- 1 p. m.) -- A lunch pre­sen­ta­tion by Ranger Me­gan Stevens about lesser- known top­ics from the Amer­i­can Revo­lu­tion, and the ori­gin of the Na­tional Park Ser­vice.

• Thurs­day, April 26 ( 7- 9 p. m.) -- Join park nat­u­ral­ist Linda White for a short hike to see the danc­ing wood­cock. Meet by the flag­pole in the vis­i­tor cen­ter park­ing lot at 7 p. m. and walk to Tour Stop 5 and back ( 1.5 miles each way). See dusk- time ae­rial dis­plays by wood­cocks, lis­ten for owls, and look for deer or fox.

Bring a flash­light, wa­ter, in­sect re­pel­lent, and wear sturdy shoes. Event can­celled if rain­ing.
