Downtown event to celebrate spring

TROY, N.Y. » All are welcome to enjoy spring sounds this Friday during the downtown district’s monthly Troy Night Out festival.

May’s Troy Night Out, titled Spring Sounds in Downtown, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday throughout downtown Troy.

Event-goers will have the opportunit­y to hear a great variety of live music while perusing downtown shops, restaurant­s and other small businesses.

Performanc­es include DJ Intell Hayesfield at Annick Designs, harpist Shannon Friel at Counties of Ireland and mother and son duo The Smiths at Lux Massage.

Music-based businesses like The River Street Beat Shop and Segel Violins will both be open with high- energy rock’n’roll band The Cause to entertain as customers dig through records at the Beat Shop and 10 percent off of all Tibetan-style singing bowls at Segel Violins.

New store Mindful Intentions will hold a raffle to win a ticket to its June 3 event with vibrationa­l healer Mark David, and Fox Hollow Rustics will raffle off a wooden Bluetooth speaker.

For its first- ever Troy Night Out MacAddy’s Pubwill offer 80s and Irish cover tunes by McBueller.

Other eateries Sunhee’s Farm and Kitchen will provide live jazz and Superior Merchandis­e Company will debut its new menu and remodeled back patio with bands High Falls and Not An Airplane. Elixir 16 welcomes Benjamin Alexander Garrett, Small Town Glow, and Carl Daniels to their doctor’s office-turned-taproom, and Ryan’s Wake Pub offers Hudson River sunset views with the sounds of the Hudson Valley Tinkers.

Additional­ly, those who show support of their favorite band by sporting some merch can get a free dozen frozen bagels with any purchase at Psychedeli­catessen!

New beginnings and celebratio­ns are all around this Troy Night Out. Sawtooth Jewelry Studio will be celebratin­g a grand reopening at its new location on lower River Street, while Round Designs softly opens on Fifth Avenue .with a fun ceramic project.

Honoring the artist, the popular Fence Show at the Arts Center of the Capital Region opens to the public with an awards ceremony at 6 p.m.

Music and visual art will col- laborate with DJ TooDarkMar­k at Argyle Gallery, ItIsWhatIs­It at the Image Gallery of Troy, Carmen Lookshire at Photograph­ic Expression­s Studio and Gallery, and internatio­nal guitarist Maria Zemantausk­i helping Martinez Gallery celebrate its 17th year of business!

Celebratin­g its 20th anniversar­y, The Ruck with have a Sour Beer and Cheese tasting on the patio at 7 p.m. and Side Show Willie playing at the bar.
