HEMET, CA - Don An­thony Carofano, lov­ing hus­band and hug­gable dad and grand­dad, died De­cem­ber 29, 2017. He was 70. Born Fe­bru­ary 24, 1947, in Troy, NY, Don is son of the late Do­minick and Mary (Klee) Carofano. He at­tended the SUNY Col­lege of Tech­nol­ogy in Al­fred, NY, fol­lowed by Clark­son Univer­sity in Pots­dam, NY, where he earned a bach­e­lor’s de­gree, and, fi­nally, Union Col­lege in Sch­enec­tady, NY, grad­u­at­ing with a mas­ter’s de­gree in en­gi­neer­ing. Don worked at Gen­eral Elec­tric, a ca­reer that spanned more than three decades and across two cities: Sch­enec­tady, NY, and Ma­ri­etta, GA. Don re­tired in 2007 and moved to Hemet, CA in 2011 where he resided for six years. Don is sur­vived by his wife, Diana (Podeswa) Carofano; his three chil­dren, Jen­nifer Carofano-Rosen of Los An­ge­les, CA, Beth Ma­gin of Tor­rance, CA, and Justin Carofano of Saratoga Springs, NY; his three grand­chil­dren, Everett Rosen and Arya and Cora Ma­gin; and his brother, Garry Carofano. He will be re­mem­bered for his kind and calm dis­po­si­tion, his silly sense of hu­mor and his love for fuzzy cats, ad­ven­tures big and small, and fam­ily above all. A memo­rial mass will be held Satur­day, June 16, at The Acad­emy of the Holy Names Chapel at 10 a.m., fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion at the Student Com­mons at The Acad­emy of the Holy Names; both are lo­cated at 1075 New Scot­land Road, Al­bany, NY, 12208. In lieu of flow­ers, dona­tions can be made in Don’s mem­ory to the Trauma Fund at Renown Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter or the Al­bany Pine Bush Pre­serve Com­mis­sion.
