SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » More than 10,000 Pentatonix fans filled the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Wednesday night to enjoy a performance by the American a cappella group.

Pentatonix usually performs several different pop- style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion and beatboxing. The group of five members are most known for their covers, mostly of modern pop works or Christmas songs, along with some original material.

The group, which was formed in 2011, consists of Scott Hoying as its baritone, Kirstin Maldonado as its mezzo-soprano, Mitch Grassi as its tenor, Kevin Olusola as its cellos and beatboxer, along with its most recent member Matt Sallee singing bass.

The group has won several Grammy Awards and has sold nearly 10 million albums worldwide and performed for hundreds of thousands of fans at their shows. The group also has a popular YouTube channel, which has more than 14.5 million subscribers with all their videos receiving more than 3 billion views.

Prior to Pentatonix getting on the stage, fans were able to hear several performances by two different opening acts. Fans first listened to Calum Scott, and then were able to enjoy performances by Echosmith.

Scott performed several emotional songs from his album

“Only Human”, including what he calls his “coming out song” about his sexuality, “If Our Love is Wrong”, which received a standing ovation.

The diverse crowd of fans were then able to see Pentatonix perform for over an hour as they wowed the crowd with 19 different songs.

The group played several different popular songs, such as “Attention” by Charlie Puth, “Havana” by Camila Cabello, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, along with its encore song of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.

The group also performed some of their own songs such as “Can’t Sleep Love” and “Sing”, along with a special celloboxing solo performance by Olusola.

Fans of all-ages seemed to enjoy the unique performance by Pentatonix, and all of their props and outfits helped to make the performance even better visually.
