TROY, N.Y.» City police said they are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Hill Street.

Police said that around 12:23 p.m. officers on patrol to a call had their attention drawn to a man — D’Andre Jones, 37, of Troy — chasing a woman on Hill Street.

Assistant Police Chief Daniel DeWolf said officers observed the unidentified woman bleeding and leapt from their patrol vehicle to assist the woman.

A news release said the female was helped by offi- cers as Jones fled on foot. DeWolf said additional officers arrived to aid the female as other officers pursued Jones.

Police said the pursuit ended at 8 Trenton St. in south Troy, where Jones barricaded himself inside of a room.

DeWolf said the Troy Police Department Emergency Response Team, as well as negotiators were activated to assist in apprehending Jones. After a period of time, Jones came out peacefully, the release said.

Police said Jones was taken into custody and was transported to the station for processing.

The female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police said her current condition is not known as of late Wednesday afternoon.

The Troy police Department said they received help from numerous other local agencies that came to assist in keeping the scene safe and for crowd control. Those agencies include, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department, Watervliet PD, Cohoes PD, Green Island PD, NYSP and the Colonie PD.

DeWolf said the investigation is still underway as of late Wednesday afternoon and that charges are still pending.
