Troy – Kath­leen J. But­ler, 100, died peace­fully on Tues­day, Au­gust 28, 2018 at the Eddy Her­itage House in Troy. Born in Hoosick Falls, NY on July 9, 1918, Kath­leen was the daugh­ter of the late Thomas F. and He­len (O’Brien) But­ler. She was a grad­u­ate of Troy High School and re­ceived her Bach­e­lor’s de­gree from NYS Teach­ers Col­lege in Al­bany. Kath­leen re­tired from the NYS De­part­ment of Au­dit & Con­trol in Al­bany as a se­nior re­search an­a­lyst in 1973. Kath­leen was the an­chor of her fam­ily; the ul­ti­mate care­taker and plan­ner. She was al­ways an avid reader, but once she re­tired she delved into many new ar­eas tak­ing up golf, join­ing a bridge group, tak­ing swim­ming and sewing lessons, and trav­el­ing ex­ten­sively with her sis­ters and many nieces and neph­ews and their chil­dren. Kath­leen will be re­mem­bered as a sweet wo­man who was gen­tle, gen­er­ous and kind. She en­joyed vol­un­teer­ing at Al­bany Memo­rial Hospi­tal fol­low­ing her re­tire­ment and was a mem­ber of the C.S.E.A., the Hart Se­nior Cit­i­zens and was a com­mu­ni­cant of His­toric St. Mary’s Church in Al­bany. She is the dear sis­ter of the late He­len, Gla­dys, John, Thomas, and Ni­cholas But­ler and Florence Sul­li­van, lov­ing aunt of Terry (Mary) But­ler of De­freestville, Kath­leen E. (Jonathan) Bar­tow of Slinger­lands, Jeanette (Ralph) Miller of Berne and John T. (Sandy) But­ler of New Jer­sey and sev­eral grand­nieces, grand­nephews and 5 great grand­nieces. Kath­leen’s fam­ily would like to thank the staff at the Eddy Her­itage House in Troy for their lov­ing care and guid­ance over the past few years. Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to at­tend her fu­neral Mass on Satur­day at 9:30 am in the His­toric Church of St. Mary on Capi­tol Hill, 10 Lodge Street, Al­bany. The Rite of Com­mit­tal and in­ter­ment will fol­low in St. Mary’s Ceme­tery, Troy. There will be no pub­lic vis­it­ing hours prior to the Mass.
