TIPSY MOOSE TAVERN OPENS 2ND AREA LOCATION
62 Vandenburgh Ave. site joins Latham location for popular restaurant
TROY, N.Y. >> Tipsy Moose Tavern is now open in Troy, as the business debuts its second Capital Region location.
Originally started in 2016 on Old Loudon Road in Latham, the popular bar and restaurant opened another site this week at 62 Vandenburgh Ave. in Troy.
After nearly a year of renovating the space to have the same cozy Adirondack atmosphere as the original establishment, guests finally got to experience it when the new Tipsy Moose Tavern opened its doors to the public for lunch on Tuesday.
By dinnertime, the place was packed. “Yesterday was insane,” said partner Seth Sanger. “The buzz is crazy.”
The new restaurant is owned and operated by Tipsy Moose Tavern’s original founders Robert Tario and Brendan Brader as well as two new partners Seth Sanger and Brandon Styles, the chef. Sanger and Styles have both been part of the Tipsy Moose team since it first opened in Latham.
One of the main reasons for the expansion to Troy, Sanger said, was demand. The Latham restaurant, set in one of the town’s oldest buildings, has some physical limitations that make it difficult to keep up with such high volumes of business.
So, now there are two Tipsy Moose Taverns that customers can choose to frequent.
On why the partners chose the Collar City for
this second location, “We love Troy,” Sanger said. “I feel like Troy is a pioneer for the arts and music and cool restaurant ideas.”
“It’s nice to see Troy coming back, it’s something that we saw an opportunity to be a part of,” Styles added.
The new restaurant is essentially mirroring the Latham location, Sanger said. It’s aesthetically similar and has the same exact menu, but with a few more draft lines available.
Already making some ties in Troy, Tipsy Moose is co-brewing a beer with Rare Form Brewing Company in the city’s downtown district. A special Nine Pin cider is in the works too. “We’re partnering up with everybody around us,” Sanger said.
Traditions like Mac and Cheese Monday, Brisket Burnt Ends Tuesday and Wing Night Wednesday will all continue at the Troy Tipsy Moose.
On the everyday menu, comfort foods like burgers, mac and cheese, and poutine are among the fan favorites. For first-time visitors, the chef recommends trying the beer battered grilled cheese.
Looking ahead to the future of the business, the owners hope to keep expanding, and maintaining the fun, family-like environment they’ve created between both staff and customers. “It’s a special project to be a part of,” Sanger said.
Tipsy Moose Tavern in Troy is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Tipsy Brunch on the weekends.
