TROY, N.Y. >> Event organizers hope that people will roll out to Hilltop Bowl in Speigletown for their charity bowling tournament on Saturday to help Clothe-A- Child. The Clothe-A- Child campaign, which The Record has long been a sponsor of, dating back to the mid-1970s, helps provide warm clothing to children in need across the Capital Region. “I’m encouraging people to come out for something fun on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:00 p.m.,” Diane Heer, of Heer Realty, said of the tournament. “It was spearheaded by a friend of mine, his name is Al Patricelli, he runs Patricelli’s Deli in Troy and he has run golf tournaments and has donated in the past to Clothe-A- Child. So because we’re all bowlers he said let’s get together a holiday tournament before Christmas to raise more money for Clothe-A- Child,” Heer added on how the tournament fundraiser idea came about. The tournament, which is open to people of all ages, will also feature a 50/50 raffle toward fundraising efforts.

“What we’re working on is a four-person team and it’s $20 dollars per person, half of which goes to ClotheA- Child, so $10 dollars per person, the team would cost $80 dollars and $40 of that dollars is going straight to Clothe-A- Child. What we have for the other is a $5 dollar split out fee that we use for the bowling lanes and $5 dollars going toward a prize fund so there’s also a chance where you could win some money a team, which we also hope some of could be donated back as well,” Heer noted of the team tournament format.

In addition, Heer says you can participate via walk-in or register your team ahead of time with the alley.

“What they can do is call the alley and reserve a team at 518-235- 4148 and Hill- top Bowl also has a Facebook page that we’ve been pushing as well that if they wanted to send a message through their Facebook page I will get it,” Heer noted of how folks can get involved.

“We’d love to have lots of walk-ins, it’ll be bowling and music and just a fun tournament to help ClotheA- Child,” Heer added of what she believes will be a great time for a terrific cause.
