The “Great American Read” TV series has sparked readers’ interest in the 100titles nominated as contenders for America’s favorite book. Join the Troy Public Library for in-depth explorations of several books from the top 100list. During January 2019 the library will focus on Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” including a January 12 screening of the 1945film adaptation (110minutes) at 2 p.m. at the main branch, 100 Second Street. WALK WITH A DOC: The Walk With A Doc program is geared toward helping people improve their health and get active. Proceed at your own pace while walking with doctors from Capital Cardiology Associates, Troy Associates of Cardiology, Samaritan Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in a fun, free walking program. Upon conclusion of the walk, nurses will take blood pressure and physicians will take your questions. The walk takes place on the second Saturday of each month. WILDLIFE TRACKING BASICS: Josh Wood leads a Wildlife Tracing Basics workshop on Saturday, January 12, from 10a.m. – 1p.m. at Albert Family Community Forest in Nassau. Participants will focus on key characteristics in track identification and unraveling how various track patters correspond to the way the animal moves. Students will examine other types of animal signs to gain increased awareness of the wildlife that surrounds us. Cost $20.
