NYS large school football selections announced
TROY, N.Y. >> Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake senior running back Vincent Daviero was the top Section 2 player selected as part of the New York State Sportswriters Association football large school All-State selections released Tuesday morning.
The 5-foot 11-inch 190-pound back was a Class A first-team offensive selection for the Spartans.
In the Class AA large school selections, Guilderland 5-11 205 lb. senior linebacker Nick Popolizio was a second-team defensive selection.
Representing Shenendehowa among the third-team selections were 6- 4 265 pound senior offense selectee lineman Dylan Blowers followed by his defensive selection, 6- 4 240 lb. lineman Andy Weyrauch.
Section 2 had two fourth-team offensive selections in Niskayuna offensive end 6-2 175 lb. senior Richie Quinn along with Shaker 5- 6 150 lb. senior Logan Souza as an all-purpose selection.
The fourth- team defensive unit included Guilderland senior 6-2 235 lb. lineman Dylan Olson along with Saratoga Springs senior, 6-2 210 lb. linebacker Mahdi Elsawi.
Representing the Blue Streaks on the fifth-team offensive unit was 6- 0 180 lb. all-purpose selection senior Carter Steingraber.
Shaker defensive lineman, 6-1 265 lb. senior Joe Taoutai was a fifth-team defensive selection with Shenenehowa senior offensive end, 6-5 240-pound James Altenburger a sixth-team offensive selection.
Plainsmen senior quarterback Brendan Belott was a Class AA honorable mention, joined by Saratoga Springs senior lineman
Brandon Camaj, Shaker senior linebacker Nate Ratigan, Blue Bison senior defensive back Shane Lavender and Blue Streak kicker/ punter senior Hunter Regels.
