WNBA returning to the Times Union Center

ALBANY, NY » SMG managed Times Union Center, in conjunctio­n with GymRat CHALLENGE, announced that WNBA teams, New York Liberty and Connecticu­t Sun, will face off in a preseason game on May 19, 2019. The Women’s National Basketball Associatio­n ( WNBA) is a profession­al basketball league that celebrates the best women’s basketball talent. The WNBA will be entering its 23rd season in 2019.

Melissa DeRosa, Secretary to the Governor and Chair of the New York State Council on Women and Girls, said, “On behalf of Governor Cuomo, I applaud the WNBA’s return to the Times Union Center. In New York, we celebrate and encourage women’s leadership and success in every field – from business to gov-

LENGE is among the largest amateur sporting events in the nation, hosting over 550 boys and girls basketball teams. For over two decades, the GymRat CHALLENGE has been a rite of passage for today and tomorrow’s NCAA, NBA and WNBA stars. The 2019 BOYS GymRat CHALLENGE will take place on May 25-26 and the GIRLS GymRat CHALLENGE will tip off on June 15-16.
