Officials highlight area military bases
ALBANY, N.Y. » Officials including State Senator’s Jim Tedisco, Neil Breslin, and Daphne Jordan hosted at the state Capitol representatives from the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Ballston Spa; the Naval Support Activity Saratoga Springs and the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia and the U.S. Army Watervliet Arsenal.
Tedisco is Senate Chair of UMAC Day (Unified Military Affairs Council).
Officials said UMAC is a program of the Capital Region Chamber in partnership with the Saratoga County Chamber and the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County to highlight the importance of the military presence in the Capital Region and ensure its long-term viability and success.
“These military units do more than protect our state and nation and way of life, they are an important and positive part of our community contributing more than $1 billion a year to the Capital Region’s economy and supporting thousands of jobs in the 49th Senate District and across the Capital Region,” Tedisco said.
“[Thursday], we’re shining the spotlight on the everyday American heroes who work at our bases – the best, the brightest, the most compassionate fighting force for good on Earth, the men and women of the United
States Armed Forces,” Tedisco added.
“Military personnel and local military installations bring security and vital- ity to the Capital Region. I was proud to host the Unified Military Affairs Council of the Capital Region in Albany [ Thursday] and I commend [the Capital Region Chamber] in recognizing the abounding impact of our military,” Breslin stated.
“[It was] a privilege and an honor to stand with the men and women of [ Naval Support Activity Saratoga Springs] at UMAC Day [ Thursday], thank you for your service and sacrifice! So proud this vital military installation is in my 43rd NYS Senate District,” Jordan stated.
