After dominating Arkansas-bred competitio­n earlier this month, Bye Bye J will return to open company in the $150,000 Purple Martin Stakes for 3-year- old filly sprinters March 30, trainer Ron Moquett of Hot Springs said Friday morning.

In her first start since being privately purchased by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong of Conway, Ark., Bye Bye J was an 8 ¼-length allowance winner against statebreds March 14. Bye Bye J was coming off a runner-up finish in the $150,000 Forward Gal Stakes (G3) Feb. 2 at Gulfstream Park.

“She showed why we wanted her,” Moquett said. “Now, we look down the road to the Purple Martin and the Rainbow Miss. That’s the plan.”

The $100,000 Rainbow Miss Stakes April 20 is the meet’s biggest prize for 3-year- old Arkansas-bred fillies.

A daughter of millionair­e Uncaptured, Bye Bye J made her first four career starts in south Florida for trainer Ronald Spatz and owner Monarch Stables, Inc. She won two races, including the $75,000 House Party Stakes Dec. 8 at Gulfstream Park.

Moquett said Whitmore will work Saturday morning in preparatio­n for the $ 500,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) April 13, a race he’s won the last two years.
