Sectional seeds released, Shen and Columbia atop AA
TROY, N.Y » The spring season is drawing to a close and the sectional tournament is drawing closer as Section II officially releases its brackets and standings Wednesday morning.
Shen claims the number one seed atop Class AA, with Columbia following right behind at number two.
With the top seed, Shen earns a bye straight into the semifinals on May 30 where they will host the winner of Shaker vs. Colonie, being played May 28 at Colonie at 4 p.m.
For Columbia, they will host the seventh seeded Saratoga on May 28 at 4:30 p.m., with the winner moving on to the semifinal on May 30 to face the winner of Guilderland and Bethlehem.
In Class A, Ballston Spa earns the top seed and will host the winner of the play in game between Central Catholic and Amsterdam.
Averill Park will host troy in the three and six seed battle on May 28 and Lansingburgh will travel to South Glens Falls the same day.
As for Class B, Ichabod Crane claims the top spot and earns a bye into the quarterfinal round. Most teams will start competition Thursday, May 23 for first round play.
In Class A, the ninth seeded Watervliet will face off with Bishop Gibbons at a location to be determined at this time. Schuylerville will host Corinth as the
eleventh seed travels to the six, and the second seeded Mechanicville will play host to the fifteen seed Hudson.
In Class C, Chatham earns the top spot and the bye into the quarterfinal. Also earning a bye is the second seeded Lake George, three seed Greenwich, and the fourth seeded Hoosic Valley.
Saratoga Catholic earns the nine seed and will travel to play Fort Plain/OESJ at 4:30 p.m. Maple Hill will host Canajoharie and Mayfield will host Rennselaer as well.
Finally, in Class D, Whitehall earns the first seed and will host the eight seeded Argyle.
