Sectional seeding released, Columbia and LaSalle travel first round
TROY, N.Y » The 2019 spring season is coming to a close, which means, it is sectional tournament time for the local high school baseball teams.
Of the local teams, Shen is leading the pack as the second seed in Class AA. The Plainsmen will host LaSalle, who is the seventh seed, on Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m.
Columbia is hosting the only Class AA play in game as Bethlehem travels to take on the Blue Devils on May 23 at 4 p.m. The winner of the Bethlehem and Columbia matchup will have to face off with the first seeded Niskayuna in the quarterfinal round on Saturday.
CBA will have to travel to Saratoga in a Suburban Council matchup between the two powers.
Class AA is the only class that will play both the semifinal, and finals, at Joe Bruno Stadium, home of the Tri- City ValleyCats.
In Class A, Ballston Spa earned
the top seed, picking up the bye straight into the quarterfinal to take on the winner of Burnt Hills and Scotia, who play in a play-in game May 23.
Troy and Albany Academy will be the other playin game for Class A, also playing on May 23.
Averill Park and Mohonasen each bypassed the first round and will meet in the quarterfinal on Saturday at Mohonasen.
The Class A semifinals will be played at Saint Rose on Wednesday, May 29.
Rounding out the other classes, Schuylervi l le earned the fourth seed in Class B and will host Cobleskill Thursday, May 23 while Saratoga Catholic earned the second seed in Class B and will host Tamarac.
The Class AA championship will be on Monday, June 3, at 7 p.m. The Class
A and C championships will be on June 1, with Class A being at 7 p.m. and Class C at 4 p.m. Class B and D will be on May 31, B at 7 p.m. and D at 4 p.m.
All Championship games will be played at Joe Bruno Stadium.
