Great Escape offers chance to support Make-A-Wish
The fundraiser event will take place Saturday, July 20
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. » Theme park attendees who visit The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor on Saturday, July 20 will have the opportunity to support Make-AWish Northeast New York and save money through a new inaugural initiative.
Guests will receive a halfprice ticket for each $10 donation made at the park’s ticket windows that day.
According to park officials, there are no limits on the number of donations that can be made, or tickets received as part of this promotion. This ticket discount is available only with July 20 donations and is limited to one per donation.
Once inside the park, Make- A-Wish Northeast New York will have a table where visitors can purchase raffle tickets for $10, or six for $50, for a three-day, twonight stay at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark, complete with a family pass to the park. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. on July 20 at the park. Participants need not be present to win.
This first-time fundraiser was inspired by a similar event that took place at Whiteface Mountain on March 24.
“We are thrilled to be able to support Make-A-Wish Northeast New York with this inaugural promotion,” said Jason Lee, communications supervisor of the Six Flags Great Escape Resort, in a news release. “During the year, our organization routinely supports young wish kids and their families at the Six Flags Great Escape Resort. Through this collaboration, we are now able to raise dollars that will go to the granting of wishes.”
Make-A-Wish grants lifechanging wishes for children with critical illnesses. MakeA-Wish Northeast New York serves the 15 counties comprising the 518 and 838 area codes. The chapter grants 90-100 wishes each year and has granted more than 1,870 wishes since 1987.
William C. Trigg, III, chief executive officer of Make-AWish Northeast New York, added that the nonprofit could not be more grateful to The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor and the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark for all that they do to support the organization. “While the money that comes in will be very important to our fundraising efforts, as significant will be the awareness generated by our presence at the park that day,” he said in the release. “When we are able to communicate directly with large numbers of families, we frequently find someone who knows a child with a critical illness who might be eligible for a wish.”
