COLUMBIETTES MEETING:
On Sunday September 29th, 2019, the Capital District Chapter Columbiettes will hold their September meeting at Our Lady of Victory Council Columbiettes 55N Lake Avenue, Troy, New York 12180. (Directions north on 787to exit 9w to Hoosick Street, East on Hoosick St to N Lake Avenue) Refreshments at 1 PM, Meeting begins at 1:30 PM. The meeting will be held in the school building, parking in the back. President Linda Cotch will preside. Drawing for the TPFTB, Inc. program will be drawn.
CANINES CROSSING AT THE PARK:
Sunday, September 29th 2019from 11a.m. to 4p.m. Dog lovers unite, and join Hudson Crossing Park in celebrating the working dog and all things canine at Canines Crossing at the Park! A fun day out in the sun with local canine search and rescue groups, Guiding Eye service dogs, the Saratoga County K-9unit, agility dogs, therapy dogs, animal story telling and much more! Attendees are asked to enjoy the event without bringing their own canines. Suggested donation is $5. More information is available at http://www.hudsoncrossingpark.org .
NICK’S RUN:
Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation (NFTBHF) in conjunction with the Honsinger Family is proud to announce its 10th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5K on Sunday, September 29th, 2019, at the Clifton Commons in honor of Olivia DeWitt and JP Honsinger, both from Clifton Park. 16-year old JP was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease at age 10. NPC is a rare neuro-degenerative disease that strikes children and is known as childhood Alzheimer’s. 5-year old Olivia was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 31⁄2 years old. She will complete treatment this fall and is entering kindergarten. Olivia is one of 90children who are diagnosed every year just in our area. The Town of Clifton Park sponsored event includes a Kids’ Run, a 2-mile Walk, a 5K Run, a Zumba warm-up, a Kids’ Carnival, and more! Day of registration starts at 10am, and dri-fit shirts will be given to those who pre-register by September 6th. Pre-registration ends on Wed., September 25th and the price is $25($30on the day of event). NFTBHF was started in memory of Nick Cammarata, who passed away in October 2008from leukemia. Tuesday, Oct. 1 POESTENKILL SENIORS:
The Poestenkill Seniors hold weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1p.m. at the Sullivan Jones VFWPost in Poestenkill. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshments are served after the meeting, followed by bingo and cards. The hall is handicap accessible, with sufficient parking. The Poestenkill Seniors hold catered luncheons, clamsteams and fish fries at the hall and also at various restaurants. Best of all they go on bus trips to casinos and other points of interest.
GUIDED MEDITATION CLASSES:
The Troy Public Library will offer Guided Meditation Classes on Tuesdays, September 3rd - October 29th from 5PM – 6PM. Learn a surprisingly simple yet powerful practice that can help your reduce stress, get recharged, experience overall improved physical health and possibly get you “blissed-out” all while sitting comfortably in a chair. Led by Michael Fuselli, with over 30 years of meditation teaching and practice experience. Beginners always welcome. Registration is encouraged, but not necessary! The Stephentown Veterans meet on the first Wednesday of each month. All veterans are welcome to attend. 6:00 PM – 7:00PM Stephentown Fire Hall.

Friday, Oct. 4 ILIUM LITERARY CLUB: The Ilium Literary Club of Troy, NY will begin its 97th year on October 4, 2019. The Club meets 6times a year (October, November, December 2019, April, May & June 2020). Meetings are generally held on the First Friday of those months at the Troy Masonic Community Center, 39Brunswick Road, Troy. After a short business meeting, we have a guest speaker or entertainment. Our speakers this year are: October 4– Brian Bouyea, Author “Bare Knuckles & Saratoga Racing”; November 1– Phyllis Chapman, Presenter of Vintage Visitors – Notorious Shady Ladies of the 19th Century; December 6– Thomas A. Kernan, Presenter of the Colorful Story of Christmas Celebrations Throughout History; April 3, 2020– Linda Styles Berkery, Author “Reflections: A Wardrobe of Life Lessons” Personal stories through dresses, with memories & meanings, growing up in Troy; May 1, 2020– Joseph Dalton, Author “Washington’s Golden Age: Hope Ridings Miller, The society beat & the rise of women journalists.” and June 5, 2020- Lisa Bohannon, Coordinator & Instructor for Sundancers Community Belly Dance will perform at our 97th Annual Meeting and Luncheon at the Troy Country Club.
