Shaker football opens at No. 8 in NYS poll
Shaker High School football (2- 0) enters the opening New York State Sportswriters Class AA poll at No. 8 out of the 25 ranked teams. Christian Brothers Academy (2- 0) also makes the poll at No. 23.
The Bison are set to host Saratoga Springs (1-1) Friday night and the Brothers will travel to play Class A Troy High (2- 0).
Guilderland ( 1-1) and Shenendehowa (1-1) were both honorable mentions.
Burnt Hills- Ballston Lake (2- 0) was ranked No. 11 in the opening Class A poll with Troy High coming in at No. 14, Queensbury (2- 0) ranked 20th and Averill Park (2- 0) ranked at No. 23 in the 25 team poll.
Burnt Hills will travel to take on South Glens Falls (1-1), Averill Park will travel to face Green Tech (0-2) and Queensbury is on the road at Scotia- Glenville (11) Friday night.
Ams t erdam ( 1 - 1) , Ballston Spa (1-1) and Mohonasen (1-1) were honorable mentions.
Glens Falls (2- 0) tops the Class B poll at No. 1 followed by Holy Trinity (2- 0) at No. 8 in the 20-team poll.
The Indians will be on the road Friday at Gloversville (0-2) and Holy Trinity will travel to take on Ravena (1-1).
Cobleskill- Richmondville (1-1), Schalmont (1-1) and Schuylerville (1-1) were all honorable mentions.
Stillwater (2- 0) is ranked No. 4 in the opening Class C poll with Watervliet (20) and ranked No. 10 in the 20-team poll.
The Indians will host Canajorharie-Fort Plain Friday night and the Cannoneers will travel to face Hudson (0-2) under the lights.
Canajoharie-Fort Plain ( 1-1), Fonda- Fultonville (1-1), Greenwich (1-1) and Voorheesville (1-1) were all honorable mentions.
In Class D, Chatham (2- 0) is ranked at No. 5 in the 15-team poll, joined by Warrensburg/ North Warren (2- 0) at No. 10 and Whitehall (2- 0) coming in at No. 14.
Chatham will make the long drive to take on Lake George/Hadley-Luzerne (02), Warrensburg will travel south to take on Corinth/ Fort Edward (1-1) as Whitehall will travel to take on Helderberg Valley (0-2) Saturday at 1 p.m.
