UAlbany’s Jeff Undercuffler Named to Jerry Rice Award Watch List

ALBANY, N.Y. » UAlbany quarterback Jeff Undercuffler has been named to the watch list for the STATS Jerry Rice Award, which is given annually to the top freshman in all of FCS.

Undercuf f ler, a redshirt freshman from Delran, N. J., set a new program single- season record for touchdown passes this past Saturday, when he threw four in a loss to Maine to raise his total to 28. He also has thrown for 2,408 yards, just 228 short of the single- season record set by Will Fiacchi in 2014.

The award will be voted upon after the season by a panel of more than 150 sports informaton directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignateries.

Three of the first four recipients of the Jerry Rice Award went on play in the NFL: former Towson running back Terrance West, Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Fordham running back Chase Edmonds.
