Lime Leaf Thai Bistro welcomed to Troy
TROY, N.Y. » The Collar City has welcomed Lime Leaf Thai Bistro as the newest restaurant to join its ranks of locally- owned restaurants. It’s the only Thai restaurant in the city, and owner May Dongkhan wants to welcome you into her homeland with her food.
“I love cooking. I started this restaurant, so I could share my home with the city,” said Dongkhan at Lime Leaf’s ribbon-cutting on Tuesday.
Dongkhan, a Thailand native who has lived in Troy for almost 10 years, looks forward to offering food to her customers that is made using locally sourced fresh ingredients.
Located at 32 4th St., just across from the Atrium where the Winter Farmer’s Market is held and a short walk away from the market’s 3- season River Street location, Lime Leaf will be purchasing as much as possible from the community’s local farmers.
Lime Leaf also boasts truly being able to bring tastes of Thailand right to its diners. The rice used in several of the restaurant’s dishes is sourced from Dongkhan’s family farm in Thailand, and the plates, cups, and servingware are all hand painted and imported from
Thailand.
At the ribbon- cutting, Dongkhan received welcomes, pledges of support, and citations from county Legislator Carole Weaver, Mayor Patrick Madden, the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District, and County Executive Steve McLaughlin.
“I’m very happy to be here and have my own place,” Dongkhan said.
Lime Leaf first opened last October. Dongkhan says that the drunken noodles is the most popular dish on the menu.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner six days a week (closed Mondays) and offers a delivery option through Grubhub. Customers can dine in the restaurant’s cozy seating area, or order anything on the menu as takeout - a choice Madden opted for after the ribbon cutting.
