TROY, N.Y. » Mayor Patrick Madden announced the city’s upcoming Household Hazardous Waste, Electronic Recycling Collection, and Shredding Day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The event provides Troy residents the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials not accepted through the city’s normal garbage collection service.

“We’re excited to increase the number of opportunities for Troy residents and families to participate in the annual household hazardous waste collection program. This free disposal service allows Troy residents and families to safely rid their homes of harmful contaminants while reducing their environmental impact, preventing toxic or hazardous materials from reaching local landfills,” Madden said in a news release.

The disposal event is a free service available to Troy residents only. Residents wishing to participate in the program will be required to pick up a Household Hazardous Waste Day coupon at the Mayor’s Office in City Hall (433 River Street, 5th floor).
