‘Geeks Night Out’-themed Troy Night Out this Friday

TROY, N.Y. » This month Troy Night Out celebrates all things “geek” while shopping, dining and exploring Downtown Troy! Get out and about on Friday to support local and explore small businesses in Troy from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and beyond.

February’s Troy Night Out honors hobbies, interests, discoverie­s and inventions with “Geeks Night Out” welcoming you to downtown Troy during this winter month.

Attendees can meet local entreprene­urs, enjoy the unique spaces the city has to offer and get to learn, share and meet likeminded enthusiast­s.

Downtown Troy kicks- off with the grand opening of Rose Hair & Healing. Their new single chair “speakeasy” salon welcomes guests with libations, cuts and weirdo make-up. Weathered Wood shares the same space, filling it with gorgeous driftwood arbors, furniture, and lights. The small business owners are creative and driven in the district.

The celebratio­n continues at “Artcentric Tardis,” photograph­s and beads at Artcentric Marketplac­e.

518Prints calls all clothing geeks, sneakerhea­ds and aspiring designers for their Brand Networking Night. Bring ideas and get feedback on custom screen printing, promotiona­l merchandis­ing and the beginning stages of business.

“The Way We Work(ed)” a collaborat­ive exhibition with the Smithsonia­n’s Museum on Main Street Program, opens at the Hart Cluett Historic House Museum. See how technology has impacted work for over 200 years in Rensselaer County.

Play into the night at Aquilonia Comics & Cards with Magic the Gathering or peruse their comic books, board games and more.

Divine Sisterhood NY presents a workshop based on ‘ The Wizard of Oz,’ to renew the spirit, stimulate your brain, touch your heart and muster the courage for change. Superior Merchandis­e Company digs deep with the return of their Vinyl Club.

For art nerds and collectors, Martinez Gallery welcomes the opening reception of “Re-install,” and Clement Frame Shop & Gallery’s “Annual Winter into Spring Sale” offers affordable works for all budgets. Wine enthusiast­s will enjoy Hudson-Chatham Winery’s ‘Guess the Grape’ game with a mystery tasting. Guess it correctly and receive 10% off a purchase.
