Troy man accused of sex acts with two minors
BETHLEHEM, N.Y. » On Thursday, July 23, at 2:58 a.m., members of the Bethlehem Police Department say they located an occupied parked vehicle in the rear of the closed Elm Avenue Town Park.
Upon investigation and approach of the vehicle, officers note they observed Gregory L. Pruitt, 21, of Troy, allegedly engaging in sexual contact with two females under the age of fifteen.
According to police, further investigation determined that one of the juveniles was a missing person out of a neighboring jurisdiction and that there was an order of protection barring Pruitt from having any contact with the juvenile. This order of protection stems from a previous sex offense arrest in the City of Albany in May of 2020, where Pruitt was arrested and released under the supervision of Probation.
As a result of the investigation into the incident in Bethlehem on July 23, Pruitt was charged with two felony counts of second- degree attempted rape, two misdemeanor counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor counts second- degree criminal contempt, second-degree sexual abuse, third- degree sexual abuse, and violations of the vehicle in traffic law for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a vehicle without insurance and operating a vehicle with no license plate.
Pruitt was arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court by the Honorable Judge Andrew Kirby, and remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or bond. A return court date was set for July 28, 2020, at noon in Bethlehem Town Court.
