Sunday, July 26 TAKE OUT CHICKEN BBQ: Brunswick Elks Lodge #2556, located at 665 Brunswick Rd., Troy, will hold a take out- only Chicken BBQ from 2to 4p. m. on Sunday, July 26. We can not resist John’s famous Chicken and apparently you all feel the same! We have sold out at our recent Chicken BBQs which should have been no surprise with how delicious this chicken is! We will be bringing this event back and based on the past you will want to make your reservations ASAP. Sunday 7⁄26 from 2- 4pm. A half a chicken with sides and dessert for $12 cash or check. ART EXHIBIT: Hudson Hall is proud to reopen its doors on June 27, 2020with Rodney Alan Greenblat’s aptly-titled, Something to Look Forward to, an enjoyable, whimsical and engaging collection of new and archival works bursting with color and underpinned with wit and charm. The exhibition, which runs until August 23 in Hudson Hall’s
Center Hall Gallery and Common Council Room, is free and open to the public on a limited, timed entry, reservation- only basis (maximum 10 entries per hour). Socially- distanced guided tours ($10, free for members, maximum of 6 per tour) take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 4pm. Exhibition reservations and tour tickets are now on sale to Hudson Hall members and open to the public on June 18. Tickets can be purchased and time entry reservations can be made at hudsonhall. org. SLOW ROLL BIKE RIDE:
Pump up your tires and celebrate summer biking with an all ages socially distanced slow roll on the streets of Saratoga Springs. Helmets encouraged, masks are a must. Hosted by Bicycle Benefits, Palette Cafe, Bikeatoga and Impressions of Saratoga on the last Sunday of every month. Ride rolls out from Palette Cafe at 10:15 a. m. sharp so roll over early to grab a bite to eat or drink. Cruisers, road bikes, tandems welcome. We will ride at ~10 mph for 6- 8 miles and finish at Humpty Dumpty’s Ice Cream at about noon. For more information contact info@ bicyclebenefits. org.
SUNDAY STROLL: SOLD OUT - Sunday, July 26Those Who Left Their Mark On Saratoga. The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to present their summer series of historic walking tours while remaining safe and socially distanced. Summer Sunday Strolls will be offered every Sunday through Sept. 6 at 10:30 a. m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Tour topics this season highlight prominent women of Greenridge Cemetery, the celebrated area surrounding the Saratoga Race Course, and the historic Spa State Park, among many others. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Due to current restrictions in New York State, Summer Strolls will be limited to 20 guests, which currently is less than the maximum of 25that is currently allowed, and tickets must be purchased in advance until otherwise noted. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be encouraged when possible. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non- members. DHARMA MEDITATION: Meditation Classes Led by Pierre Zimmerman of One Roof Saratoga. July 12-August 30, Sundays at 9 am on the SPAC grounds in the Saratoga Spa State Park. Dharma Meditation includes inspirational topics that support emotional, cognitive, and ethical wishes for wellbeing. This is a sitting meditation for 25minutes with a silent break allowing people to stretch, followed by a second sitting, introduced by a brief talk. A discussion on the topic and some insights and reflections about the nature and commonality of our basic humanity is shared by attendees. This meditation is open to beginners and/or those who have been meditating for awhile. There is no cost to attend, but a $10 donation per class is suggested. FISH FRY: The Fish Creek Rod and Gun Club in Victory Mills will have another Fish Fry on Sunday, July 26, 3 to 6 p. m. Menu will be: Fish or Chicken Nuggets, Fries, Tartar Sauce, and Roll. Cost will be $8 per meal. This will be a take out only event, we will take your order at the gate and collect the money, your meal will be delivered to you in your car. You must stay in your vehicle. Monday, July 27 MOVIE NIGHT AT THE FARM: Let’s all go to the movies! We’re bringing the silver screen to Pitney Meadows Community Farm at 223West Ave, Saratoga Springs, with two fun- and food-filled Drive- In Movie Nights. Along with the movies ($10 per car), we’ve got local chefs cooking up amazing food, from small charcuterie boxes to vegetarian picnic boxes for four, and pulled- pork
sandwiches, veggie skewers, ice cream sandwiches, and much more, plus cocktails and nonalcoholic beverages to keep you cool. And popcorn, of course! Monday, July 27: “Biggest Little Farm” ( Rated PG): Festival- contending documentary about the misadventures and triumphs of two newbie farmers learning to work with nature and the land. Monday, August 3: “Rocky” ( Rated PG): The classic movie about the Philly underdog fighter played by Sly Stallone, taking on the world of boxing and finding love (and the best coach ever, played by Burgess Meredith). Gates open at 7 p. m., movie begins at 8:45p. m. Food & Beverage served: 7:30 -10 p. m. Price: $10 per car. Food and beverages extra. Tuesday, July 28 HISTORICAL PROGRAM:
Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will continue to offer online programs throughout the summer even as the Visitor Center is now open by appointment. The Erie Canal historic site will provide programs through Webex as well as other online platforms and social media. The next “virtual” program is scheduled for 6:30pm on Tuesday, July 28th and the topic will be how foodways in America changed because of westward expansion and the Erie Canal. Lavada Nahon will discuss how the movement of people and the mix of cultures transformed the way people eat. Nahon is a culinary historian, editor and historic interpreter for the Bureau of Historic Site and Park Services. Additional programs are being planned. The site grounds are open for appropriate socially distant recreational use from sunrise to sunset daily. Please observe NYS Guidelines while visiting Schoharie Crossing. LUNCHTIME CONCERTS: Golfstrom - “vintage folk and pop” from Europe and beyond. Nominated for a 2020Eddie Award. All events are free, open to all, and start at noon in a new location at The Downtowner parking lot, 413 Broadway in Saratoga Springs. We will take plenty of precautions to keep people safe: it will be outside, we will ensure social distance and will limit show capacity to 50. No mask, no entry (once you sit down, you can take your mask off). We cannot guarantee protection from the sun so please come prepared. Seating is offered. Bring a lunch if you wish! If there is a chance of rain, the show will be canceled and rescheduled. TAI CHI: Tai Chi Classes at SPAC Instructed by Mark Tolstrup of the Tai Chi Center - Beginner Introduction To Tai Chi Class. Tuesdays July 7 - 28, 10 am or 5:30 pm on the SPAC grounds in the Saratoga Spa State Park. In this course participants will learn the basic postures, movements and breath work in addition to the first movements of the Yang style Tai Chi form.
