THELMA F. “TERRY” O’CONNOR

Troy-Thelma F. “Terry” O’Connor, 88, of Troy, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, December 21, 2020. She was born in 1932 in Newark, NJ and was educated in West Orange, NJ, then graduated from Columbia H.S. in South Orange, NJ. She attended Syracuse University, N.Y.U. and completed a Bachelor of Arts in American History from George Washington University in 1968, all while raising her family. Terry worked at R.P.I. in Communications until her retirement in 1994. She was active in the League of Women Voters. Terry had a life-long love of gardening and was even accredited as a Master Gardener through the Cornell Univ. Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County. Terry was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George W. O’Connor, her parents, Alfred and Mildred Tokar, a brother Kenneth, and her grandson Christopher Thomas. She is survived by a brother, Robert Tokar (Marni), a sister, Kitty Leonowicz, her children; Timothy O’Connor (Cheri), Tracy O’Connor Thomas, Douglas O’Connor (Kate) and Justin O’Connor (Trisha), grandchildren; Caroline, Acacia, Michael, George Charles, Patrick, Brigid, Adrian, and Archer, as well as her greatgrandchildren; Timothy Christopher, Jennicka, Gerard, and Olivia.
