TROY, N.Y. » Mayor Patrick Madden is inviting the public to attend the unveiling of Hoboken Brownstone Company’s and the City’s design for the redevelopment of the One Monument Square site and Riverfront Park connections. The event will be held at 433 Lofts on the 9th floor of the Hedley building (433 River Street, Troy), on Wednesday, Sept. 8th. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

“We are excited to bring the designs for One Monument Square to the public, having worked closely with Hoboken Brownstone Company and their design team to create a project that’s driven by the public’s vision for a vibrant destination riverfront. This project will build on the $26 million Seawall Stabilization Project and create a downtown gateway to our Riverwalk and waterfront,” Madden said.

Building off the key takeaways from the public during the three-day charrette process, the developer, city officials, and design team will provide a presentation detailing both the private and public components of the proposed project at the former City Hall site. The public will have opportunities to ask questions and provide their feedback on the lat

est design and plan. The presentation will be livestreamed on the City’s official YouTube channel (www. youtube.com/troyny).

Due to COVID-19 concerns, face masks will be required for all attendees during the event. The presentation will shift to a virtual event if public health conditions change prior to Sept. 8. Please check the City website for updated announcements — www. troyny.gov/1msq

The presentation represents a major milestone towards the development of the site following the formal execution of a Land Development Agreement in 2020. Working off public feedback delivered during the 3-day public charrette process—led by Place Alliance, New York, and River Street Planning & Development—the City of Troy and Troy Local Development Corporation issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a development partner in late 2018 to revitalize the important and prominent downtown riverfront site.

Hoboken Brownstone Company was selected by an independent selection committee among the four final respondents and, after a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been diligently working with City and TLDC to move through the conceptual design and feasibility phases of the project. The City of Troy is now releasing several Request for Bids for different components of the project, including key infrastructure and site-work on and around the site, to begin this fall in preparation of the redevelopment effort in 2022.

“We are very excited to unveil our design for One Monument Square and the adjoining park space. In partnership with the City, our design team has done an exceptional job working through all of the feedback provided by the community, before and after the charrette, and analyzing the many site limitations to produce a design that will not only be an enhancement for the local Troy community but also the Capital Region at-large. In conjunction with the future designs for Riverfront Park, these projects are poised to be transformational for Troy’s waterfront and will continue to build on the momentum created by local entrepreneurs and small business owners that have led Troy’s turnaround over the past decade,” Sumeet Gupta, Principal for Hoboken Brownstone Company explained.

“As someone who worked with communities statewide for years, it’s incredibly rewarding to finally take another step with One Monument Square in my hometown Troy, N.Y., to transform our jewel of a waterfront on the national treasured Hudson River!” Troy City Council President Carmella Mantello added.
