Ayco holds ribbon-cutting for new headquarters
COLONIE, N.Y. » Goldman Sachs Ayco Personal Financial Management, one of the largest employers in Albany County and a leader of company-sponsored financial planning benefits, held a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday for its new headquarters in Colonie.
The celebration also marked Ayco’s 50th company anniversary.
In 1971, Bill Aydelotte and Jim Conway formed Ayco Planning Services, Inc., offering corporatesponsored financial planning to executives, and the company has been growing ever since.
In 2003, Ayco was acquired by The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
Over the past half-century, the Capital Region has been home to Goldman Sachs Ayco Personal Financial Management.
CEO Larry Restieri, during the ceremony, spoke about the company’s commitment to the region.
“As our business has expanded across the country over the last 50 years, we’ve continued to grow our home base here in the Capital Region. It has been a real privilege to invest in the stability and growth of the area,” he said, “and with this new headquarters, the Capital Region has offered Goldman Sachs the opportunity to reinforce our footprint here.”
Restieri continued, “It has been incredible to us how welcoming the community has been through every step of our journey, and it’s exciting to have a front-row seat as the region continues to grow and evolve.”
Ayco currently has more than 900 employees in the Capital Region.
With the opening of the new Colonie facility, Ayco relocated some of its employees that previously worked in Saratoga Springs — its former headquarters — but the company still has a presence in the 321 Broadway building.
“Consolidating most but not all of our offices across the Capital Region under one roof brings our Ayco team together, making it easier to connect and collaborate with one another, and in turn to better serve our clients and the community,” Restieri said. “The centralized headquarters will help support our
growth as a business.”
The new 149,000-squarefoot, four-story office building, located on a 20-acre site at 100 Coliseum Dr. in Colonie, is being leased from The Galesi Group under a long-term agreement.
The building has a seating capacity of about 1,100 people between team rooms, private offices, workstations, and cellular spaces.
One of the property’s many sustainable features is a solar carport system, which powers 60% of the new Ayco headquarters with renewable energy generated on-site. There is also a total of 12 electric vehicle charging stations in the lot.
Looking ahead, Restieri predicts continued growth for Ayco, he said, noting that the company has hired a record number of people in its division over the past year.
“The challenges of the pandemic have shone a spotlight on our business,” the CEO explained. “Companies across corporate America and their employees are more focused today on personal financial wellness than ever before … Our business has seen an increased interest from clients because they’ve needed our help during the pandemic more than ever before, and we look forward to continuing to grow our business across the country from our headquarters right here in the Capital Region.”
