Thursday, Sept. 16 HISTORY PRESENTATION: The Saratoga County History Roundtable will offer a presentation by Russ VanDervoort, Waterford Town Historian, at Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa on Thursday September 16 at 7:00PM. Russ will tell the story of a 150year old murder for hire plot that a newspaper called “The Most Damnable Murder Plot ever Ventilated!”, an event that unfolded in 1870-1871 that involved participants from throughout Saratoga County. Preregistration required for the presentation at the Museum by email to Jim Richmond at saratogacohisotryroundtable@gmail.com. BROOKS BBQ: Newtonville United Methodist Church is happy to announce its Brooks BBQ dates for 2021. NUMC is located at the corner of Rt. 9 and Maxwell Road near Siena College. Our dates for 2021 are: Thursday, May 13; Thursday, June 10; Wednesday, July 28; Thursday, September 16; and Thursday, October 7. We offer a chicken dinner for $11 or a rib dinner for $13. Dinners include a baked potato, roll, applesauce and a homemade brownie. We also offer the option of just meat — a half chicken for $8 or a half rack of ribs for $10. The doors will open at 3:30 PM and we will serve from 4:00 PM until we sell out. Masks and social distancing will be required. Please see our church website NUMC.net for additional COVID protocol.

CHICKEN BBQ: St. Michael the Archangel Church located at 175 Williams Rd, Troy will hold their annual Chicken BBQ on September 17, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. The BBQ is being prepared by Guiliano’s. The meal consists of 1⁄2 chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob, coleslaw, roll and homemade brownie. The cost is $12per meal. Please preorder dinners. Take Out Only/ Drive Thru. GIANT OUTDOOR YARD SALE: Trinity Church Lansingburgh will hold a Giant Outdoor Yard Sale on the church grounds, 585Fourth Avenue, Troy, from 9 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021. GIANT GARAGE SALE: St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford will again have their Giant Garage Sale on Saturday, September 18th both indoors and outdoors in the Parish Hall located on the corner of Sixth and Division Streets. The sale will run from 9:00 to 5:00 with early birds welcome from 8-9am at a cost of $5 per person. Donations will gratefully be accepted on the following dates only: Tuesday, Sept. 14th, Wednesday, Sept. 15th and Thursday, Sept. 16th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. No electronics or clothing, please. Books are appreciated, but no encyclopedias or magazines. Jewelry, home furnishings, linens and bedspreads, furniture and holiday decorations are particularly appreciated.

MAKE IT UP STATE MARKETPLACE: After an eightweek winter inaugural season indoors in Lansingburgh, Make It Up State, a local business development organization, has moved outdoors to celebrate warmer weather along the Hudson River and local, regional producers of goods, food, music, art, and more. The Make It Up State Riverfront Marketplace will run every Sunday from 9am — 2pm in Troy’s Riverfront Park through mid-October, excluding July 4th. With a rotating lineup of over 50 vendors, meaning each week will be different, organizers say there is something for everyone.The park’s main lot will be open for public parking. Friday, Sept. 24 HOLLOWED HARVEST:
Returning for its second year, the Hollowed Harvest is a Jack-O’-Lantern spectacle designed for audiences of all ages. This year, the Hollowed Harvest will feature dozens of brand new larger-than-life Jack-O’-Lantern displays, some towering as tall as two stories and spanning more than 50 feet in length. Attendees can expect to take about 35-40minutes to walk through the show in its entirety. Join us to see fantastic scenes made with over 7,000Jack-O’-Lanterns! Once open, the show is scheduled to remain open Thursday-Sunday through Oct. 31 at the Altamont Fairgrounds. A full schedule is available at HollowedHarvest.com.
