MECHANICVILLE, NY » The Red Raiders had one of their classic lop-sided victories on Thursday night against Hoosic Valley.

Their 12-0 win extended their Wasaren League unbeaten streak to 60 straight games, as they have 59 wins and one tie over that span (59-0-1).

“I think it’s pretty impressive. It was started years ago now and I don’t think anyone else has a streak like this, even though I don’t really know, but it’s pretty cool to be a part of it,” said senior captain Andrew Kraszweski.

The tie in that streak belongs to Greenwich, from a game in 2017.

Andrew Kraszweski set the tone for the Red Raiders with four goals and two assists, with fellow captain Wyqie Aguda just beind with three goals and two assists.

Mechanicville bounced out to an early 3-0 lead within the first six minutes of the match with a goal from Kraszweski, one from Aguda and then another one from Kraszweski.

“I’m just trying to have as much

fun as possible and trying to help my teammates score some goals too,” Kraszweski said. “It’s really nice when we get a clean sheet. I know that our goalie probably isn’t having too much fun, but we take a lot of pride on getting those shutouts and scoring as many goals as we can.”

After two more goals from Kraszweski, Ryan Grimmick and Gordon Jenny each tacked on one,

giving Mechanicville a touchdown lead, 7-0, at halftime.

The Red Raiders would score five additional goals in the second half, with two scores from Aguda and individual goals by Grimmick, Juntion Manion and Jacob Eiseman.

Kraszweski, Aguda and Manion each added two assists, with Joe DeVito, Grimmick, Colin McNutt and Thomas Wendel each having one.

SARATOGA CATHOLIC VS GREENWICH

Even though Greenwich controlled the ball for the majority of the match, Saratoga Central Catholic was able to take a 1-1 tie into halftime. The Saints weren’t able to get much of anything going offensively in the second half, as Greenwich picked up a 3-1 victory.

Greenwich’s Joshua Poovey started off the scoring in the first half and then Aiden Law, of Saratoga Catholic tied it up at 1-1.

Madifan Carner put in the go-ahead goal early in the second period on a shot

from close range. They’d add some insurance later in the half when K. Amani Raphael finished off a ball on a corner kick, giving Greenwich a 3-1 lead.

“From what I’ve seen from the thirteen guys that we have, they’ve shown a lot of improvement over the first four games of the season and I think that as we go, we’ll see the skill level pick up,” said Saratoga Catholic coach Jeff Pompa. “This was a good team, Greenwich. They’re always a good team and they played really well today.”
