BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held for the newest Stewart’s Shop to be rebuilt as part of the company’s initiative for continued growth. Located off exit 13N of I-87, the newly rebuilt shop boasts a wider variety of groceries, plenty of parking, and new Tesla EV supercharging stations.

The new store is located very close to the company’s headquarters, and is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Local officials joined store manager Sarah Waite at the ribbon cutting to mark the occasion. Waite received congratulatory citations from representatives for State Sen. Jim Tedisco and Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner.

“I want to welcome them to Malta, and I look forward to the relationship we’re going to form with them,” said Malta town supervisor-elect Mark Hammond.

Hammond continued, “The Tesla stations are a huge benefit. We don’t have a lot of those in town yet. The economy and the town is growing, and Stewart’s is growing with it. The new building is so much better. They keep raising the bar.”

“This is a dream come true,” agreed Waite. “I’ve been waiting for this for ten years. It’s nice to have everything I ever hoped.”

Waite says her favorite thing about the newly rebuilt store is the giant parking lot.

“It’s going to be so much fun in the summer,” she said enthusiastically.

An important focal point of the store’s grand opening is one that every Stewart’s Shop shares this month. Through Christmas Day, every store in the franchise is participating in their annual Holiday Match program. All money donated by customers during the program, no matter the amount, will be matched by Stewart’s Shops.

All funds raised are donated to local charities. At press time, the money raised so far totaled well over $900,000.

Chad O’Hara, who DJs for local radio station B95.5, was at the grand opening to help support the Holiday Match program.

O’Hara was confident that the fundraising could break $1 million by the end of the weekend, and optimistic that by Christmas Day totals could reach $2 million.

“I’m happy to be here, because at grand openings you see the community come alive,” he commented. “Stewart’s is your neighborhood place to get everything you need. The Holiday Match is so important. Whether you give a little or a lot, your money makes a difference to hundreds of children and families in the Capital District.”
