BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » The Saratoga County Veterans Services Agency recently announced registration is open for its Revolutionary Run. The 5K event takes place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville — the site of the British General Burgoyne’s army decamped on Oct. 17, 1777, laying down their arms in the surrender of the British to the Americans, known today as the Turning Point of the Revolution.

The event will also feature live 18th-century reenactors, a free kids fun run, music, and food. The America’s Turning Point marque tent will be on display with 18th Century kids’ games, crafts, and more for eventgoers to enjoy.

All runners will receive a tee shirt. Runners are also invited to enjoy refreshments, hamburgers, and hotdogs after the race provided by the Saratoga County American Legion Posts. Those interested in participating in the Revolutionary Run can register at www.finishright.com.

All proceeds of the 5K will benefit the Saratoga County Veterans Trust and Agency Fund, which supports projects dedicated to the welfare of our veterans, including training, education, healthcare, housing, and essential services.

The 5K begins at Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville and traverses the historic towpath north and across the canal to Hudson Crossing Park. Following a gentle loop around the Hudson Crossing Park field, the course then enters the nature path along the Hudson River. The return is again on the towpath ending with refreshments and ceremonies at Fort Hardy Park.
