Dorothy N. Card, 97, of Maple Avenue, passed away July 20, 2013 at Geer Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center after a short illness. Dorothy was born November 8, 1915, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Clarence H. Nickerson and Sadie A. Nickerson.

She resided in Norfolk for nearly 75 years. Mrs. Card was a member of the Church of Christ Congregati­onal and was involved with many church related activities. She was active in many different town organizati­ons over the years. She also worked as an assistant to both Richard Cobb M.D. and for many years to David Luchs M.D.

Dorothy had a quiet eloquence about her. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and the peacefulne­ss of her home on her quiet corner in Norfolk. She loved walks in the woods and being close to nature. She will be missed by her many friends and family.

Mrs. Card was predecease­d by her late husband Clarence W. Card and her son Peter C. Platt. She is survived by her daughter Donna P. Whitney and husband David of Richmond, Virginia, her daughter Dixie C. Merrifield and husband Robert of Hebron, her son Clarence W. Card Jr. and wife Marie of Bedford, Massachuse­tts, and her daughter-In-law Shirin R. Platt of Westerly Rhode Island, as well as nine grandchild­ren and six greatgrand­children.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ Congregati­onal in Norfolk Saturday, July 27 at noon. A private burial will be at the convenienc­e of the family.
