PET PARADE

THOMASTON: The Thomaston Public Library will be hosting a Pet Parade on Wednesday, July 24 at 2 p.m. In the event of rain the movie Because of Winn-Dixie will be shown and the Pet Parade will be held on Wednesday July 31. All pets must be on a leash or in a cage. Registrati­on is required. Spectators welcome. 60TH ANNIVERSAR­Y

TORRINGTON: Observance of 60th Anniversar­y Korean War Armistice will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, rain or shine, at Torrington’s Coe Park. Join the Torrington Veterans Support Committee and its member groups in rememberin­g, honoring, and showing our appreciati­on to those who served, those who were injured, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Korean War. LITCHFIELD: Litchfield Parks and Recreation Department senior picnic will be held on July 25, at noon. A fun filled day of food, music and games. Entertainm­ent by Jerry Carillo band. MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE­S

LITCHFIELD: Explore the spirituali­ty and amazing mysticl experience­s and insight of Hadewijch of Brabant, Mechthild of Madeburg and Marguerite Porete. In this offering we will now reflect on selections of their writing through a ‘close reading’ of their words. Guidelines for doing a ‘close reading’ as well as copies of the selections will be available.

There will be a free pasta dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. sponsored by the Northfield Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and live music by the band Big City Styles from 4 to 9 p.m.
