BARKHAMSTE­D >> Ignatius Makarevich, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was the loving husband of Mae Beckmann for 20 years and the late Evalyn Makarevich. Born Feb. 5, 1928 in Stamford, the son of the late Ignatius and Josephine (Wichniewsk­a) Makarevich.

He graduated from Stamford High School and then Plattsburg­h College. Ignatius served in the United States Army during World War II.

In addition to his wife, Mae, he is survived by a daughter, Jaclyn Makarevich and husband Steve Machia of Brookfield, and their children, Evalyn and Irene; a son, John Makarevich and his companion Terri of California and his son, Ignatius Makarevich of Cos Cob, two stepsons, Bryan Beckmann and his wife Sherry and their children, Peter, April, and Shawn and Michael Swearninga­n and his wife Nancy; and step-daughter, Marjorie Clayton and her children, David, Christophe­r and Rebecca. He was predecease­d by a brother, John and a sister, Mary.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 28, at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Pine Meadow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Barkhamste­d Center Cemetery, Barkhamste­d with full Military Honors.
